Police Blotter: Vehicle and Home Burglaries Reported

Incidents reported to the Piedmont Police Department April 18-April 23

MONDAY, APRIL 18

Two Cases of ID Theft and One of Mail Theft – At 12:29 p.m., a man from the 1700 block of Trestle Glen Road reported being a victim of tax ID theft. At 1:38 p.m., a woman reported that mail had been taken out of locked mail boxes on the 100 block of Somerset Road. At 4:55 p.m., a man from the 400 block of Pala Avenue reported being the victim of ID theft.

Home Broken Into – A man from the first block of Fairview Avenue reported at 3:19 p.m. that drawers and closets had been rifled through while he was away from his home during the previous two hours. The man didn’t know what was missing but told police that he came home to an open door and a bike near his back door that he didn’t recognize.

Vehicle Window Smashed – The window of a vehicle was smashed on the first block of Wildwood Avenue sometime after 2 p.m., according to a report made at 4:33 p.m.

TUESDAY, APRIL 19

Four Vehicles Burglarized – A Blackberry was taken from an unlocked vehicle the previous night on the 500 block of Blair Avenue, according to a report made at 6:37 a.m. At 8:33 a.m., a man from the 100 block of Dracena Avenue reported that a Boy Scout picture and phone charger had been taken out of an unlocked vehicle the previous night. At 1:23 p.m., a caller reported that a black jacket and vehicle registration were taken from a vehicle the previous night on the 600 block of Blair Avenue. At 5:23 p.m., a woman from the 1800 block of Oakland Avenue reported that a stereo had been ripped from the dashboard of her vehicle sometime during the previous week.

Blair Park Signs Stolen – At 4:40 a.m., a caller from the first block of Monticello Avenue reported seeing someone take three Blair Park signs from his lawn. The man saw a vehicle drive away but could not provide additional details.

DUI Arrest – Police made an arrest for driving under the influence at 11:41 p.m. on the 3500 block of Grand Avenue.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – A stolen vehicle was recovered on the 600 block of El Dorado Avenue at 8:17 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20

Home Entered – At 5:46 p.m., a man from the first block of Nellie Avenue reported that he found the front door of his home kicked open. He said there was no loss and believed a home alarm scared off the intruder.

ID Theft – ID theft was reported from the 100 block of Wildwood Gardens Avenue at 11:27 a.m.

Theft at Swim Club – At 9:55 p.m., a caller from the first block of Abbott Way reported that car keys and a jacket had been taken from the Piedmont Swim Club.

Two Students Arrested for Marijuana – Two Piedmont High School students were arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana at 10:27 a.m.

THURSDAY, APRIL 21

Man Offers to Paint Address Numbers – At 6:22 p.m., a caller from the first block of Arroyo Avenue reported that a man had been trying to paint street numbers of the sidewalk for residents. The solicitor had a permit, according to reports.

FRIDAY, APRIL 22

Man Arrested for Warrant – Police arrested a man with a warrant for his arrest at Park Boulevard and St. James Drive at 8:20 a.m.

Wallet with Cash Found – At 9:06 a.m., a caller reported finding a wallet with identification and cash at the corner of El Cerrito and Ricardo avenues.

Home Vandalized – At 10:01 p.m., a man from the 100 block of Nova Drive reported that a ventilation panel had been pried off near the front of his home. Nothing was missing from his home and he didn’t know whether entry was made.

SATURDAY, APRIL 23

Electronics Taken from Home – At midnight, a man from the first block of Cambridge Way reported that a door was kicked in and electronics were missing from his home. The burglary occurred sometime after 8:30 p.m. that night.

Scooter Returned to Owner – At 4:53 p.m., police returned a scooter to its owner after finding someone using it on the 300 block of Highland Avenue. The owner of the scooter, who had earlier reported the item missing, declined to press charges.

Girl Injured at Witter – An ambulance responded at 6:14 p.m. after it was reported that a 17-year-old girl injured her shoulder at Witter Field.
