Murals enliven the street scene in business districts close to Piedmont. Today: Piedmont Avenue. Tomorrow: Grand Avenue, Broadway.

A mural by Oakland artist Thomas Christopher Haag is the newest addition to the Piedmont Avenue streetscape. The mural begins modestly on the front of Holistic Veterinary Care, 4382 Piedmont Ave., Oakland, then explodes into a block-long fantasy as it wraps around the building onto Brandon Street.

A few blocks away, a mural painted by Rocky Rische-Baird in 2006 adorns , 4150 Piedmont Ave., Oakland. Rische-Baird also created the mural on the old Key System transit terminal at the corner of Piedmont Avenue and 41st Street, occupied until very recently by.
