Grout pen is mightier than the sword

I was recently at a marketing appointment for a house I have coming on the market and the seller was horrified by the stained grout around her bathroom tile. She had a contractor in who gave her a quote of $300.00 dollars and a full day of inconvenience to "rejuvenate" the grout lines in her bathroom.

I stopped her and told her she had, "three choices of color".

"How did you know?" She replied.

I know because the contractor was trying to charge her $300.00 for a really simple do it yourself project which costs your time and between $6-20 in cash.

If you, gentle reader, can color in lines with a marker you too can rejuvenate your bathroom grout.

This is how:

1) Go to the nearest large hardware store.

2) Buy a package of grout pens. There are a variety but each pen should be good for roughly 350 linear feet. This should cost you roughly $6. You may also want to buy some rags if you do not have them around the house.

3) Go home. Read the directions.

4) Wash the tile, let it dry. If you feel impatient dry it with a hairdryer.

5) Color in the lines between the tiles. This is grout. The marker paints it whichever color you think best matches your original color.

6) Make sure to clean up any traces of the marker that sneaks outside of the line. Use the towel or rag.

7) You are done and your bathroom looks a lot better.

Doesn't that feel good?
