Piedmont CA Real Estate Agent Broker Anian Tunney Appreciates Latest CoreLogic® National Foreclosure Report

As of the end of April 2014, the number of homes in the foreclosure process was down by 18% from April 2013 reported CoreLogic in their National Foreclosure Report(1) released last month. CoreLogic – a data and analytics company servicing the financial services and real estate industries – reports the rate of foreclosures is nationally back down to November 2008 levels.

“’Slow but steady’ is the only way to describe this recovery,” commented Anian Tunney, a Piedmont, CA based real estate agent broker. “It is heartening to see the rate of new foreclosures plummet as well as know that the inventory of already foreclosed properties is also steadily declining.” Tunney is very pleased to see that California (in the top five states for number of completed foreclosures in the past year) is experiencing an over 50% decline in year-over-year foreclosed inventory. “It means that good homes are not going to go bad.” One example of real estate for sale in Piedmont is 100 Crest Road listed at $2,695,000. Another is 2063 Oakland Avenue for $2,950,000.

As the number of households in distress continues to decline, homeowners are gaining more confidence in the prospect of moving up in the housing market. Similarly, owners who are ready to down-size are more confident about selling properties that had previously been un-sellable. For example, multiple multi-million dollar homes in Tunney’s area of Piedmont – an upscale section of the San Francisco Bay Area – have not been on the market long in recent months. One house recently sold in Piedmont, 99 Sea View Avenue – offered at $2,999,000 – was only on the market for a month. Current homes for sale in Piedmont include 87 Sea View Avenue, offered at $5,250,000.
