PCSC Wraps up Rebuilding Together Oakland Project

These past two Saturdays, youth members of the Piedmont Community Service Crew, their parents, and skilled adult volunteers completed a renovation of a home in Oakland. Every spring, the PCSC raises approximately $7,500, thanks to generous donations from our community, to fund a project in association with Rebuilding Together Oakland, a nonprofit that stimulates renovations all over Oakland for low-income residents. An adult-only prep day on April 13 and a carpet-installing day on April 20 prepped the home of Octavia Carter for two main work days on April 27 and May 4. In all, the crew was able to install new carpeting, paint the interior, fix and repaint the outside fence, paint the exterior, hang new curtains, clean up the yard, fix broken kitchen cabinets, strengthen the roof, insert a working washer and dryer, update the electrical work, create a new garage door, and paint the house's entire exterior. Piedmont-Montclair Rotary and the Girl Scouts provided breakfast and lunch for all the hardworking volunteers. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the project. We hope to see you next April!
