Are you looking for a fun and hands on way to help local students? Consider volunteering with WriterCoach Connection! WCC brings teams of trained volunteers to work one-on-one with middle and high school students on their classroom writing assignments. In Oakland, WCC supports students at Fremont High School and Life Academy of Health and Bioscience, both located in the Fruitvale District.
Coaches strengthen students writing skills and help them develop their ideas. With positive encouragement from a caring adult, students become confident thinkers and and writers.
You don’t have to be a writer or teacher to volunteer. WCC’s training provides the strategies and practice you’ll need to be a terrific coach.
Training sessions for new Oakland coaches are underway and will continue into October. For more information or to register, please visit, www.writercoachconnection.org or call Catherine O’Connell, 510-339-3653
