“We teach the kids good sportsmanship, teamwork and how to be better football players,” said Adam McNulty, President of EBFF. “Short term, we want to build excitement in our East Bay League. Longer term, we we’d like to give local soccer a run for its money.”

NFL Flag is a 5 on 5 fast paced football game played in over one thousand leagues across the country. An exciting style of play both to play and watch, NFL Flag allows no contact or blocking and offers every player a chance to receive the ball. In EBFF’s league, score is kept, there are standings, playoffs and a league champion is crowned.

“Once people see that they can enjoy the excitement of football in a safe, family-friendly environment, we hope the word spreads and more kids get inspired to play” continued McNulty.

Each Player Receives:

·         NFL reversible team jersey

·         NFL medal for participation

·         Official NFL FLAG football belt and flags

·         Free USA Football player membership

Players are also eligible to play in the NFL Flag Regional Tournament held at the Oakland Raiders Practice Facility in Alameda on Saturday, November 9th.  The winning team from each Regional Tournament division gets to play in the NFL Flag National Tournament in New York, expected to be in Jan 2014, the weekend before the Super bowl.  Rules and more details are available at http://www.nflflag.com/events.

East Bay Flag Football was inspired by the tremendous support the McNulty family received from their local community when their 10 year old son had a much unexpected stroke.  Once he regained the ability to walk, he decided he wanted to play football, the sport he loved, again.  It was clear he needed a safe but FUN place to play.  East Bay Flag Football was established as a CA non-profit corporation and is dedicated to giving kids an exciting, safe and FUN flag football experience.

“When we were down, we greatly benefitted from the support of our community – especially two local non-profit organizations, Children's Hospital Oakland and BayKids,” continued McNulty. “East Bay Flag Football is our way to give back.”

While current donations and proceeds from entry fees are used to fund the costs of their upcoming fall and spring leagues, EBFF looks forward to a time in the near future when they can make significant contributions to Children's Hospital Oakland and BayKids.
