It may be the middle of winter, but it was the warmest Jan. 14 on record in several parts of the Bay Area today.

San Francisco's airport broke a 65-year-old record, reaching 72 degrees to top the old mark of 67 set in 1948, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather agency reported that several other spots also saw new highs, beating old records all set in 2009:

Downtown Oakland saw 73 today, up from the previous high of 70, and Oakland International Airport reached 74, up 9 degrees from the previous high mark.

San Jose hit 76, up from 73, while Mountain View topped out at 74, just barely surpassing the old record of 73.

In John Steinbeck country, Salinas hit 80 tying its record.
