Chilly Days, Freezing Nights Expected Through Midweek
Blame a cold air "blast" from Canada or the Bay Area's low temperatures.

The cold snap that has blanketed the Bay Area with freezing temperatures this week is forecast to continue for days, and the National Weather Service issued another regional freeze warning for Sunday night, a forecaster said.
The warning was issued for all Bay Area counties except San Francisco, with temperatures across the region dipping to the 30s and 20s overnight, weather service forecaster Steve Anderson said.
The coldest temperatures were expected to hit the cities of Morgan Hill, Livermore, and Santa Rosa, where the low could reach 23 degrees before sunrise, Anderson said.
Temperatures throughout the area were forecast to remain around 10 degrees below average until at least Wednesday, due to a sustained "blast" of cold air moving south from Canada, Anderson said.
A building ridge of high pressure off the Northern California coast should "close the door" to that air mass this week, with temperatures creeping back toward normal by Friday or Saturday, he said.
The week is expected to be dry, with just a slight chance of rain in the North Bay on Friday, he said.
