Commuters Continue to Use Ferry During BART Strike
The San Francisco Bay Ferry from Jack London Square will be on a reduced holiday schedule July 4 even if the BART strike continues.

Many commuters affected by the BART strike are continuing to turn to ferry service to get across the Bay.
On Tuesday, the San Francisco Bay Ferry, which operates between San Francisco and Oakland, Alameda and Vallejo, again saw three times its regular ridership, ferry spokesman Ernest Sanchez said.
Systemwide, there were roughly 19,600 ferry riders on Tuesday and about 18,000 on Monday, Sanchez said.
Typically, the ferry service carries about 6,000 riders a day, Sanchez said.
To accommodate the added passengers, the ferry system is operating 11 vessels instead of its usual eight, he said.
On the Fourth of July holiday, the ferries will be on a reduced holiday schedule even if the strike is still going on, Sanchez said. More information about the holiday schedule is available at http://sanfranciscobayferry.com.
Golden Gate Ferry, managed by the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District, recorded 358 more passengers during the morning commute on Tuesday on its Larkspur ferry compared to the previous Tuesday. However, Larkspur ferry ridership this morning was down from last Wednesday, according to the district.
