Finding Piedmont's Fabled Sulfur Springs

Traces of the mineral springs that attracted 19th century visitors to Piedmont are still evident in Piedmont Park.

In the late 1800s, visitors were attracted to the Piedmont Springs Hotel and the city's nearby — presumably healthful — mineral springs.

There's no strong whiff of sulfur hovering over Piedmont today, but you can still find remnants of the springs, according to the Oakland Geology blog.
