How a Piedmont Couple Saved Oakland's Fox Theater

Erma and Mario Delucchi and their daughter Diane purchased the theater for $340,000, pledging to preserve it. Mrs. Delucchi, a Piedmont resident, died earlier this month at the age of 94.

Erma C. Delucchi of Piedmont, who with her husband and daughter bought the Fox Theater in Oakland 1978, died June 13 at the age of 94.

In an article published today in the Oakland Tribune, columnist Annalee Allen tells the story of how the Delucchis' purchase paved the way for the restoration of the 1928 building. You may read the complete Tribune article here and Mrs. Delucchi's obituary in the San Francisco Chronicle here.
