Richard Rowe Carves a Mean Pumpkin

The Piedmont gardener grew the beastly gourd first.

If you've ever been by a house on Bonita Avenue with a prolific edible garden, that would be Richard Rowe's house.

This year Rowe planted pumpkins that took with gusto—one pumpkin grew to 189 pounds, another weighed in at 197.

After carving an amazing face into one of the pumpkins, his next feat will be composting them.
