River Otters Seen at Lake Merritt, Lake Temescal

An East Bay Regional Parks naturalist says a pair of river otters was seen every few days last month at Oakland's Lake Temescal.

River otters are making appearances all over the East Bay, says Sharol Nelson-Embry, the supervising naturalist at the East Bay Regional Park District's Crab Cove Visitor Center in Alameda.

Otters have been sighted at Oakland's Lake Merritt and Lake Temescal in the past two weeks, says Nelson-Embry, who blogs for Alameda Patch and for KQED Science.

Read more about where river otters have been seen locally in Nelson-Embry's KQED Science blog post here.

You can also log any sightings you make on the link to the River Otter Ecology Project in the blog.
