Chess

All ages and skill levels are welcome for an afternoon of chess facilitated by Marvin Willis at the Lakeview Branch of the Oakland library. First move is at 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

Park Commission Meeting

The Park Commission will meet in the city council chambers at 5:30 p.m. There will be a presentation by the Restoration Design Group for development of the Blair Park Landscape Improvement Plan.

Thursday, Oct. 3

Art Opening

Dreamscapes, featuring original paintings by Piedmont artist Suzie Skugstad, 6 p.m—9 p.m, Panorama Framing, 3350 Grand Avenue.

Friday, Oct. 4

Flu Clinic

The Sutter Visiting Nurses Association and Piedmont Appreciating Diversity Committee (PADC) offers a flu clinic the Ellen Driscoll Playhouse, 325 Highland Avenue. Get everyone inoculated before flu season begins. The clinic runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Game Night BBQ

The Piedmont High School Boosters Snack Shack presents Off The Gridiron. Bring your family to Piedmont HS home football games and enjoy dinner while you watch the action.  Each home game will feature a unique Street Food vendor. On Friday, Slow Hand BBQ will be serving up Delicious BBQ at $8 a plate. Cash only. The varsity game starts at 7 p.m. 

Saturday, Oct. 5

Piedmont Unified Workshop

“Piedmont students, parents and community are invited to join PUSD educators to explore Piedmont’s guiding educational themes for 2013 and beyond at a workshop on Saturday. The workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Participants must commit to the full day workshop. To RSVP, please send a statement of interest with your name, address, and telephone number to shapingourfuture@piedmont.k12.ca.us. Questions? Classical Music

Violinist Joseph Gold, pianist Marco Cadario, and soprano Antonella Romanazzi will perform a concert of operatic music at the Piedmont Center for the Arts. The program will celebrate the bicentennial of Verdi and Wagner. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets for the event are $20 available in advance on BrownPaperTicket.com or at the door.
