  1. : Adding icing to the graduation cake, Newsweek ranked Piedmont High School 83rd on its list of the top 500 public high schools in the country.
  2. : A special Father's Day edition of the starring Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong, who got the crowd going while his son Joey played drums with his band Emily's Army at a recent gig in Mountain View.
  3. : Among the wisdom imparted by faculty speaker Gabrielle Kashani to the class of 2011, "Put down your cellphone." The student speakers had some pretty good lines too.
  4. : City Council passed a $22 million 2011-2012 operating budget Monday including about $380,000 for the new aquatics fund to supplement revenues generated by the pool.
  5. : The elementary school on the corner of Lake and Linda Avenues is emptying out and trucking over to Emeryville for the year while the building undergoes seismic retrofits and modernization.
