Art Spy: Stacy Presson the Joyful Jeweler

Art Spy: Stacy Presson, Joyful Jeweler

There has to be something sinister about the art scene in Alameda County if it can continue unabated in such a discrete fashion. It is my duty to expose it.

I was recently bringing my (insert animal type here) for a walk at Redwood Regional Park in the Oakland Hills when I spotted an intelligence gathering opportunity.

An open studio sign.

I think, already being in disguise, that this is a perfect opportunity to find out a little more about the hidden art scene in Alameda County. I present myself at the open studio and am ushered into a private home in the Oakland Hills off of Skyline Boulevard.

I am welcomed by Stacy Presson, Reiki master, reflexologist, and jewelry artisan who immediately requests I remove my shoes.

I do.

The questioning begins.

AS- “How did this all begin? The making of jewelry?”

SP-“It all began with a friend and me making bracelets for one another a long time ago.”

AS-“Please let me know more.”

SP-“A client of mine saw some of the bracelets I made and asked me for a number of them to give for Christmas presents.”

AS-“And then..?”

SP-“Boom, the talented emerged and a simmering creativity bubbled forth.”

Yes it did.

Stacy works with various types of materials, her favorite being gemstones, including re-imagined vintage brooches, sterling and pearls, Swarovski crystal and opals.

The jewelry is runs from between $15 and $150 per piece.

Her jewelry is available bespoke through the artist, at Chic on College Avenue and by request at the Jewel Box in Montclair.

For those wanting a commissioned bespoke piece email Stacy for a consultation at montclairrandr@gmail.com.

Report concludes.
