Exhibition of Stitch Modern Art Quilts

In February 2012, visitors to the Stitch Modern Quilt Show at the Piedmont Center for the Arts,
located in Piedmont, CA, will view beautiful handmade modern quilts from members of the East
Bay Modern Quilt Guild. The exhibition theme will focus on the Guild’s unique spirit of artistry,
openness, and collegiality within the context of modern quilting.
The Stitch Modern Show will be open to the public from February 1- 12, 2012, on
Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 12 noon - 3pm with a special opening reception on
Saturday, February 4, from 3-5pm. For a sneak preview see the Stitch Modern Quilt Show on
Flickr.
The Modern Quilt Guild movement developed from the thriving online community of modern
quilters and their desire to meet in person. The founding guild was formed in Los Angeles
in October 2009. The East Bay Modern Quilt Guild, open to all East Bay quilters who enjoy
exploring modern themes in quilting, was founded in February 2010.
The East Bay Modern Quilt Guild focuses on modern design and personal expression of
quilting. There are no hard rules and there is no judgment– this is quilting your way, whether it’s
with the latest fabrics and traditional patterns, or free piecing with no pattern at all!
New Pieces in Berkeley, CA hosts the guild’s meetings on the last Tuesday evening of the
month. We encourage those interested in the East Bay Modern Quilt Guild to attend a monthly
meeting or come say hello at our February 4 Stitch Modern reception.
