FUN FOR LITTLE KIDS:

, Thursday, Nov. 25, Grand Lake Theater  The movies are a traditional antidote to the food comas and sugar highs that follow the Thanksgiving Day feast. At Grand Lake Theater, yes, the new Harry Potter movie is playing.

, Saturday, Nov. 27, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., MOCHA. Potatoes can take many forms: French fries, mashed potatoes, and Mr. Potato Head. MOCHA has its annual Mr. Potato Head Beauty Pageant Saturday. A true crowd pleaser, kids and their adults can decorate potatoes to create the perfect beauty queen (or king). The contest at the end of the event will be sure to have everyone laughing.

Mummenschanz, Saturday, Nov. 26, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Zellerbach Hall. The holidays are filled with wonderment, and Mummenschanz brings a whole new sense of form and figure to the stage. This Swiss pantomime troupe creates an artistic universe that will amaze and delight people of all ages. The event is consistently sold out, so get your tickets early.

, Thursday, Nov. 25, 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., Piedmont High School. Run, walk, or stroll with your friends on the annual three-mile jaunt around Piedmont. T-shirts will be given to the first 1,100 people to the start line. Prizes include awards for the fastest, oldest, and youngest participants. The event is on rain or shine and is over at 10:30 a.m., so all participants can get back home with plenty of cooking time to spare.

, Friday, Nov. 26, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., Color Me Mine. At the craft studio in Alameda, anyone who comes Friday can paint their own heart gift box, for free. It's a great gift, and your loved one will surely appreciate the personal creativity of your design.

Diamano Coura Presents "The Mysterious Snake", Saturday, Nov. 27, 8 p.m., Malonga Center for the Arts. With traditional West African dance, music and theater, the Diamano Coura tells the tale of "The Mysterious Snake" about  a disobedient boy who loses his way. 

FUN FOR KIDS AT HEART:

The Story of My Life, Sunday, Nov. 28, 2 p.m., Contra Costa Civic Theater. Nominated in 2009 for four Drama Desk awards, this moving and deeply thoughtful musical production addresses the strength of friendships and how our friends change the course of our lives.

, Wednesday, Dec. 1, 7:15 p.m., Piedmont Park. The city will flip the switch on the holiday season Wednesday and rumor has it Santa will be making an appearance. Afterward, join friends, family and neighbors for caroling around the fireplace at   from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
