Piedmont Resident Gave Her Regards to Broadway

Today, former stage actress Amy Garfinkle works with housebound patients as a physical therapist

George M. Cohan was the giant who created many popular stage songs, including "Give My Regards To Broadway" and his statute stands in Times Square to this day.

In an earlier career, Piedmont resident Amy Garfinkle played on Broadway, including a role in George M!, a musical about Cohan's life and career.

Today Garfinkle works in her other love, the medical field, as a physical therapist who makes home health calls on patients through Nightingale Nursing Home Health in San Leandro.

"I think of home health as a throwback to original medicine, when doctors did house calls," she says in this the San Francisco Chronicle article. "We have any number of patients at home with IVs in. It's kind of a little portable hospital going on in their homes."
