Trumpeter Hornbill Squawks for Second Place

August Grahn, Jeremy Kruger and Andrew Gage conjured up the African bird in Piedmont High School's 46th annual Bird Calling Contest.

A South African safari guide (August Grahn) introduced an excited nerdy dad (Jeremy Kruger) to the Trumpeter Hornbill in a skit performed at Piedmont High School's 46th annual Friday. The cranky teenager (Andrew Gage) on the trail was way more interested in playing Angry Birds on his father's iPhone than in the nature lesson; nonetheless, the trio won second place for their convincing hornbill call.

went to Caitlin Baldridge, Ausitn Kelley, and Theo Quayle for their portrayal of the American Coot.

went to Tlalli Moya-Smith, Andrew Moorhead, and Zach Piser for playing Wood Storks.
