Art Opening, Comedy Night Highlight Today's Piedmont Avenue Stroll

Pus free music by guitarist Damond Moodie at 41st and Piedmont.

Issues, the magazine shop at 20 Glen Ave., Oakland, will host a comedy night, while Art on the Balcony, the gallery at 4125 Piedmont Ave., Oakland, will hold an opening reception for its new exhibit — both coinciding with today's "third Thursday" Piedmont Avenue Stroll.

Also tonight, Damond Moodie will be the featured entertainer, playing acoustic guitar at 41st Street and Piedmont Avenue.

At Issues (corner of Glen and Piedmont Ave.), the free comedy show begins at 7 p.m. sharp, according to the Piedmont Avenue Stroll website. The night will be hosted by local comedian, writer, and musician George Chen. George also hosts The Cynics Cave every Saturday at Lost Weekend Video in the Mission. He will be joined by comedians: Mary Van Note, Anna Seregina, Clare O’Kane, and Alex White.

The free reception at Art on the Balcony (on the second floor of the Courtyard Mall) runs 5 to 9 p.m. and celebrates the opening of The Masculine in Art, a juried exhibit curated by Barbara Petrie. Meet the artists and enjoy refreshments while viewing work created by Bay Area artists.
