Grand Avenue Inaugurates 'First Thursday' Tonight

The Grand Avenue business district is holding its first-ever "First Thursday" event tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. with four art exhibits and discounts at other participating businesses.

Oakland's Grand Avenue business district — from the theater to Ace Hardware — holds its inaugural "First Thursday" event from 6 to 9 p.m. today, with special exhibits at four art galleries, according to an article in the most recent Splash Pad Newsletter.

Other merchants are offering special discounts to customers who show proof that they visited one of the participating galleries.

Taking part: Rebooty, featuring the work of artist Sam Raske; Panorama Framing, showing linescapes by Momoku Sudo; Oak Common's Backstock Gallery, with an exhibit by Jenny Sharaf; and Galleria Scola, with vintage prints and postcards.
