Grand Avenue's First Thursday: More Galleries, Drake's Brewing

Grand Avenue's First Thursday event continues to expand, with gallery exhibits, merchant discounts and entertainment.

This month's event on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m., includes art exhibits in three additional spaces:

"Wild Things," oils on canvas by Lorrie Fink at Better Homes & Gardens Mason-McDuffie Real Estate, 3320 Grand Ave., Oakland.

—Wood collages by Matthew Scheatzle at Studio Grand, a new non-profit at 3234 Grand Ave., Oakland.

—Oils by Tod Murdock at Jaujou Studio, a salon at 3351 Grand Ave.

Grand Tavern, 3601 Grand Ave., will extend its happy hour prices to 9 p.m. for the First Thursday event and will feature some barrel-aged brews from Drake's Brewing.

Other highlights include exhibits at several more galleries, jazz at Monkey Forest Road and free buzz cuts at Slick and Dapper Barber Emporium, according to the latest Splash Pad Newsletter.
