Introducing Two New Piedmont Patch Bloggers

Sue Caro and Madelyn Mackie offer insider perspectives on, respectively, politics and job hunting

Please welcome two new bloggers to Piedmont Patch: Sue Caro and Madelyn Mackie.

Sue Caro is the immediate past president of Piedmont Area Republican Women and the newly elected chairman of the Alameda County Republican Party. She wrote several dispatches for Piedmont Patch from the California GOP convention in February.

In her first blog post, Caro writes about attending "campaign school" and about the costs of running for office. It's fascinating and little-known information for anyone interested in politics, no matter what your party affiliation.

Piedmont is Caro's "home" Patch site, but her blog will appear on several other Patch sites throughout Alameda County.

Madelyn Mackie is a career counselor whose business is based in Adams Point. This is actually career #4 for Mackie, who started out in biochemistry, switched to theater production (including a stint with the Berkeley Repertory Theatre) and then moved into a non-profit executive position. An active volunteer with the Red Cross during Hurricane Katrina, she later became the external relations officer for the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter.

Now Mackie is an entrepreneur: owner of Activate Your Career Dreams, career counselor and frequent speaker and workshop presenter on career issues. Her first blog post focuses on a timely dilemma: what to do if a potential employer asks for your Facebook and other social media passwords to "check you out" during the hiring process. She offers an innovative and unusual solution.

You will find introductory blog posts from both Caro and Mackie in the Local Voices section of Piedmont Patch.
