Monkey Forest Road Adds Wine Station, Extends Hours

In addition to coffee and Indonesian Art, Monkey Forest Road is now also offering customers a selection of 20 wines by the glass, thanks to its recently installed wine station.

A Grand Avenue cafe is now serving vino to customers after recently welcoming a state-of-the-art wine station to the shop.

Monkey Forest Road, located at 3265 Grand Ave., is known for its coffee and Indonesian art. But now it's also known for its wine bar which started about a month ago, according to co-owner Chris Cooper.

Cooper said the modern wine station serves several purposes. As opposed to having wine last for only a few days, the station replaces oxygen with argon, making the wines last for up to 60 days.

This allows for the shop to offer a larger selection of wines by the glass. They currently carry 20 options.

The station also makes it easy to serve the wines. With a push of a button, the baristas can easily get a 5 oz. glass of wine perfectly poured for customers.

Lastly, the station's temperature control "makes a big difference" when it comes to enjoying the wines according to Cooper.

"We were really popular as a coffee shop but now we are seeing we can extend our hours," Cooper said.

Hours are now as follows:

Sunday through Wednesday open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (wine bar open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.)
