Montclair Village Shoppers Want Fresh Food

A bakery, an organic grocery store, and a butcher shop or fish market are on Montclair Village shoppers' wishlist, according to survey results reported by the blog Today in Montclair.

As part of an effort to fill numerous vacant store fronts in the business district north of Piedmont, the Montclair Village Association polled shoppers along with its members about what they'd like to see come in. With the hardware store on Mountain Boulevard having recently closed, a new one tops the list. A "fun restaurant" and better happenings in village also ranked high.

For now, it seems like the Piedmont Avenue business district on the west side of Piedmont is having all the fun. A launched this summer and this week's opening of the promises to be a new place for a good time on the avenue.
