New Pizza Restaurant Coming to Grand Avenue

The Star is an offshoot of the Little Star Pizza, which operates popular restaurants in Albany and San Francisco.

Little Star Pizza, which operates a popular pizzeria on Solano Avenue in Albany and two more in San Francisco, is coming to Oakland.

The new restaurant — to be called simply The Star — will open early this year at 3425 Grand Ave., which formerly housed Milano.

"We specialize in Chicago-style cornmeal deep dish pizza," The Star's website says. "We offer wine, beer and a full bar. We're family friendly and offer lunch, dinner and take-out."

According to Ken Katz of the Splash Pad Newsletter, which reports on businesses in the Grand Lake area, The Star will offer the same cornmeal-crust pizzas as Litle Star but will have an expanded menu and a full bar. The new restaurant will seat 140 people, Katz said.
