Piedmont Avenue Celebrates Halloween Saturday

Parade at 11 a.m., trick-or-treating for kids 10 and younger, cartoons, even a costume contest for pets and their people! Note: Piedmont Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic between Rio Vista and Echo avenues from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Piedmont Avenue Merchant Association (PAMA) presents its 26th annual Halloween Celebration Saturday, with family-friendly activities starting at 9:45 a.m. Here's the schedule of events, courtesy of PAMA:

9:45am: Cartoons at Piedmont Landmark Theatre, Linda at Piedmont Avenue.

10:15am: Special Storytime at the Library, 160 41st St., for younger children

11am: Parade led by Jim McElroy, bagpiper extraordinaire, and students from Head Over Heels. Meet at Rio Vista and Piedmont Avenue. Note: If you wish to have your pet in our special “pet” section, make sure you are at the parade site by 10:15am.

Parade Marshals this year: Friends of the Piedmont Avenue Branch Library and our wonderful library staff.

11:45am to 1pm: Trick or Treating at Avenue Candy Station merchants for children 10 years and younger accompanied by an adult.

NOTE: Street will be closed
from Rio Vista to Echo from 10:30am to 1pm.

Primo book sale
 at the Library, 80 Echo Ave., sponsored by the Friends of the Piedmont Avenue Branch Library, special music from Salane Schultz, treats, and a chance at the “Halloween Gift from the Avenue” drawing –11am to 2pm.

Noon: Annual Pet/Owner Costume Contest at Paws on Piedmont, 3974 Piedmont Ave.

Music on the Plazas:

Key Route (41st and Piedmont Avenue): Avenue favorite Tara Linda and Friends, 11am to 2pm

Pumpkin Meadow
 at Mountain View Cemetery, 5000 Piedmont Ave. Food trucks, 5 large jumpers, balloon artist and face painting, and a special crafts table, Noon to 3pm

Haunted Hallway and Halloween Faire at Piedmont Avenue Elementary School, 4314 Piedmont Ave., 11am to 3pm

Piedmont Pumpkin Patch with scary haunted house, 4414 Piedmont Ave. (next door to J. Miller Flowers & Gifts), 8am to 8pm

Freelove Music School, 4390 Piedmont Ave. Music and jumpers for kids

Olive Oil Tasting throughout the afternoon at  4025 Piedmont Ave.

Halloween Art and Ukelele Duo, Resurrect, 4135 Piedmont Ave.

Demonstration and free tumbling run for kids at Capoeira Mandinga, 4137 Piedmont Ave.

Free Face Painting by Build-On at Key Route Plaza from noon to 2pm 

Win great gifts from the Avenue! Entry forms at the library – 160 41st Street and 80 Echo Avenue (on Saturday). Winners to be announced at the library’s Grand Opening on Dec. 1!
