Restaurant Watch: Slicer Pizza Opens, Fentons Malt Shop Sundae Benefits Animal Rescue

Foodie news from Piedmont Avenue.

Slicer Pizzeria opened Thursday in the former Local Cafe space at 4395 Piedmont Ave., Oakland. The new restaurant is owned by Colin Etezadi, a veteran of Boot and Shoe Service and Pizzaiolo. It sells pizza with seasonal toppings by the slice or the pie, and it's mainly oriented toward the takeout trade, according to this article from Eater SF.

Across the street and down the block, Fentons Creamery, 4226 Piedmont Ave., has a special September offering, the Malt Shoppe Sundae, with Swiss milk chocolate and malted chocolate ice cream and a hot fudge topping. A portion of sales benefits Hopalong and Second Chance Animal Rescue, which will mobile adoptions today (Saturday) outside Fentons. Watch the creation of this month's special sundae in the attached video.
