Starting Tuesday, 'Drive-Thru' Mac and Cheese from Homeroom

Starting Tuesday, March 5 — a tasty new "drive-thru" alternative from Homeroom, the popular mac-and-cheese Temescal restaurant at 400 - 40th St., Oakland.

You'll be able to order and pay for your meal via a cellphone app, park in a designated space in front of the restaurant and have your dinner delivered to your car.

The new service will only be available during dinnertime: 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

It's a trial program, to become permanent if it goes well, according to restaurant staff.

Here's how it will work, according to the Homeroom website:

1) Download the Homeroom Mac + Cheese app on your phone at the Apple or Android store.

2) Place your order and pay for it on the app.

3) Drive to Homeroom, and park in the designated area in front of the restaurant. Just look for the orange cones.

4) A Homeroom employee will ask for your name, and bring your order out!
