Governor Jerry Brown joined Tesla CEO Elon Musk, 2,000 employees, and numerous business and political leaders last Friday for the debut of the Model S, a premium electric sedan with a range of up to 300 miles and a price tag of $49,000 to $97,900 (after a $7,500 federal tax credit), depending on model and options.
The automobiles were manufactured at the old NUMMI plant in Fremont, which closed two years ago amid allegations of mismanagement.
