EBAC Auxiliary Masquerade Ball—Bling Meets Elegance

The EBAC Auxiliary is a group that raises funds in support of East Bay Agency for Children programs. The organization was founded in 1999 and continues to serve children and families in need.

Members of the East Bay Agency For Children (“EBAC”) Auxiliary gathered at the home of Katie Ford on October 11 to discuss final details for their 13th Annual Masquerade Ball, to be held on Saturday October 27 at a magnificent Piedmont estate.  Guests are promised a glittering evening, as the group gears for the diamond-themed celebration.  This year, EBAC celebrates its 60th anniversary providing vital services for children and families in our East Bay community.

Benefactor Party October 16

VIP sponsors and donors to the EBAC Auxiliary’s Diamond Anniversary Masquerade Ball are invited to attend a Benefactors Reception on October 16 at a gracious Piedmont home.  These lucky guests can look forward to a mouth-watering assortment of passed hors d’oeuvres, hors d’oeuvres served at stations, and desserts, all prepared by Executive Chef Yang Peng of Wood Tavern and Southie fame.  While feasting on these rustic goodies, guests may sip the seasonal signature drink, champagne and pomegranate, or choose from a variety of fine wines, all while swaying to the beat of jazz music played by Gray Cathrall’s quartet, Shades of Gray.

Masquerade Ball October 27

At the 13th annual Masquerade Ball, costume or black tie clad guests will be treated to passed hors d’oeuvres and an elegant seated dinner (with three choices of entre) catered by Barbara Llewellyn and fine wines from the Keenan Winery. Seating will be limited.  Multi-talented comedian (writer, television host, talk radio host and commentator) Brian Copeland will entertain and spend the evening at the party.  The event will also offer dancing, hosted bar and a live auction. Terrific live auction items include dinner at an Oakland fire station, as well as the following vacation destinations:  five nights in a New York City apartment on West 57th Street, a week in Mexico (with the winning bidder’s choice of destinations, Loreto, Cabo or Puerta Vallarta), one-week stays at two different French Villas, and two nights at the Park 55 Hotel in San Francisco.  A silent auction will be comprised of festive party opportunities, including a Kentucky Derby party; a beer and bourbon tasting party with barbecue; a “Midnight in Paris” party; and a “Midnight in Memphis” party, featuring local musical talent.

The Masquerade Ball will not only benefit the Child Assault Prevention Training Center (“CAP”), but also the other 12 EBAC programs, including Circle of Care—Grief and Illness Support, Hawthorne Family Resource Center, Therapeutic Nursery School and the EBAC Probation Mental Health Services.  A portion of the proceeds from the Masquerade Ball will be used to underwrite CAP training for students at Havens, Beach and Wildwood elementary schools.  CAP has been offered in the Piedmont schools repeatedly over the past 25 years.  Serving 21,000 children a year, EBAC is the largest provider of mental health services to children in Alameda County.  EBAC believes that if we build strong children there will be fewer adults to mend.
