Bike to Work Thursday with a City Official

Put on your helmet and join Mayor John Chiang and City Councilmember Garrett Keating for a Bike to Work Day commute on two wheels to downtown Oakland. You have a choice of two routes.

Piedmont cyclists are invited to join Mayor John Chang and City Councilmember Garrett Keating for a morning commute to downtown Oakland tomorrow on Bike to Work Day.

The mayor — and anyone who would like to join his contingent — will leave from Piedmont City Hall, 120 Vista Ave., at 7:30 a.m. and stop by the Bike to Work Day energizer station at Grand Lake Ace Hardware, 1221 Grand Ave., Piedmont.

Volunteers from Piedmont Connect will staff the station, where you can pick up some bike-related free goodies.

Keating will take a longer route, leaving from the corner of Highland and Moraga avenues at 7 a.m. and traveling first to the Montclair energizer station, then down Park Bouelvard.

The two groups will meet at the Grand Lake Theater and bike together to downtown Oakland, where they will join other Bike to Work cyclists.
