Foreclosed Homes: How Many Are in Piedmont?

Realty Trac releases latest information on number of foreclosures and how many are for sale.

Piedmont has 205 homes still in some stage of foreclosure, according to information released today by Realty Trac. Of those, 33 are for sale.

Foreclosed homes appear to be getting cleared from the market. Between August 1 and March 31, there were 796 foreclosed homes sold in Piedmont.

Here are the foreclosure figures for communities in Alameda County. The numbers are current through April 30. The recently sold figures are from August 2012 to March 31, 2013. Current foreclosures don't include homes recently sold.

Fascinating. On a per capita basis Piedmont seems to have one of the highest foreclosure rates in Alameda County (as does Emeryville). County wide there are 319 people for each foreclosure, 173 in Oakland, 662 in Alameda, 692 in Berkeley and 404 in Castro Valley. There is a home in foreclosure for every 53 people in Piedmont.

I'd be curious how these numbers were concluded -- I'd guess it's by ZIP code, and if that's the case they aren't accurate, since Piedmont doesn't have it's own ZIP code and all of the Piedmont ZIP codes also include Oakland residences. If you drill down into the realitytrac.com website, all of the details for Piedmont say "no data" so I'm guessing it's not accurate.

My cursory analysis is based on information given. Perhaps the Patch Editor(s) can comment if the foreclosure numbers are actual for each City or just a compilation of zip codes; 94610/94611 in the case of Piedmont.
