Mild Earthquake Saturday Was Centered in East Oakland

The East Bay was shaken mildly by a 2.6-magnitude earthquake today, Saturday, at 4:42 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

According to USGS information, the epicenter of the quake was near the intersection of Bancroft Avenue and 108th Aveue in Oakland. That places it below the MacArthur Freeway, a few blocks from the Foothill Square Shopping Center.

People generally experienced a 2.6 quake as weak to mild.
