Patch Home Page Gets a Mini-Makeover

The design and technical gurus gave the home page for Piedmont Patch (and some 800+ other Patch news sites) a facelift – not without a few glitches

Does the Piedmont Patch home page look a little different today?

You're not imagining it. The Patch design and technical teams freshened things up with a few cosmetic changes, which took place Wednesday evening at Piedmont Patch and some 800+ other Patch news sites across the country.

If you happened to visit our home page late Wednesday evening, you'll know that the makeover didn't go quite as smoothly as planned. In particular, the "comments" section was pulling in readers' remarks from across the country, including somewhere called Brick Patch. (I'm not sure where that is, but envision it as home to the three little pigs and the big bad wolf.)

Fortunately most of the glitches were remedied fairly quickly.

Perhaps the most obvious change is that the "comments" section and the events calendar have traded places. You'll now find links to some things you can add to Piedmont Patch – events, photos and videos, suggesting a new blog – all in one place, right below the comments.

The events calendar is now at lower right – just scroll down a bit to see what's happening in and around Piedmont today.

The daily weather forecast has shifted position a little and is now to the right of the Piedmont Patch logo.

The horizontal navigation bar at the top of the page got a few changes in wording. "Traffic & Gas" is now "Commute." "Places" is now "Directory," where you'll find links to local businesses and community resources. "Gallery" has changed to "Pics & Clips" (that's where you can see photos and videos contributed by Piedmont Patch readers). And "More" is now "More Stuff," which includes job and volunteer opportunities.
