Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Equality

Dr. Shakti Butler facilitates “Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Equality,” 1-3 p.m. Fri., Oct. 25 at BCC

The community is  invited to a screening of “Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequality” a film screening and discussion set for 1-3 p.m., Fri., Oct. 25 in BCC’s auditorium, will be facilitated by Dr. Shakti Butler.  The event is free and open to the public. The film uses story, theater and music to illuminate the larger frame of structural/systemic racial inequity.  

A filmmaker, founder and creative director of World Trust, Dr. Butler is a dynamic educator in the field of racial equity who engages her audiences with participatory keynote and seminar presentations.  A multiracial African-American (African, Arawak Indian, and Russian-Jewish), her  work as a creative and visionary bridge builder has challenged and inspired learning for over two decades.  Her groundbreaking documentaries include The Way Home,  Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible, and Light in the Shadows.
