Understanding Food and Farm Policy with Adam Scow, Director Food and Water Watch

Adam Scow, California director at Food & Water Watch, will address
California and federal agriculture issues at a joint program event of the LWV
of Piedmont and Oakland at the Piedmont Center for the Arts, 801 Magnolia
Avenue, Piedmont, on Wednesday, November 13, from 7:00
to 8:30 p.m. Mr. Scow will discuss consolidation of agriculture
industries, state water and federal farm policy, and their effects on our food
system. Audience may ask about such issues as GMO crops, antibiotics in
livestock, water pollution, and crop subsidies.

Food & Water Watch is an independent nationwide public interest
organization focused on insuring that the food, water and fish we consume is
safe, accessible and sustainably produced. They research and produce fact
sheets, reports and issue briefs to inform citizens about food and water safety
and care. Among its successful campaigns was a mandatory country-of-origin
labeling effort, as well as influencing Starbucks to discontinue using milk
from cows treated with artificial growth hormones.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
