Habitot Heroes

On November 5, Havens students refurbished wooden carrots for Habitot Children’s Museum. Habitot has a infant and toddler garden in which kids dig for vegetables. In our busy workshop, Havens students sanded and dyed the wood as well as created fabric leaves for the carrots.

Habitot staff member Toni says that Havens Community Service Crew should be named one of “Habitot’s Heroes” - the children's museum's giving campaign project. You can give to Habitot and become a hero too - contact them at www.habitot.org

One of our second graders, Eva, helped deliver the carrots to Habitot and is now planning to become a Habitot docent! She and other students may volunteer on Fridays or Saturdays assisting the little ones, cleaning up the play areas and earning store credit for volunteer hours.

Havens students volunteer on the first Tuesday of every month with projects like this one for Habitot. We also sort and donate the clothes we find in the Lost and Found area at school. The next after school activity will be on Tuesday December 3 benefitting Piedmont Gardens Retirement Center. The holiday cards and poems created by the kids will be distributed when students visit the Center on the weekend for holiday songs.
