How Local Democrats in Piedmont,Rockridge, and Montclair Can Exercise their Voice

June election ballots are here. If placement is any indication, right next to Barack Obama's name, Democratic Central Committee candidates deserve a look & listen.

Ballots for the June 5 primary have arrived and as you scroll through, you recognize the widely known names and titles of all the posts listed. If you are a registered Democrat, you additionally read a list of people running for the Alameda County Central Committee.

For Piedmont and surrounding areas, going north up Hwy. 80, you live in the area designated as Assembly District 15, one of the newly drawn areas to come out of the new California Citizens Redistricting Commission. This year the Alameda County Central Committee race for AD15 has 11 candidates running for nine seats. Sooo, you might ask, what is THAT? And what do THEY do?

The Alameda Central Committee is a group of registered Democrats who work on campaigns, get-out-the-vote initiatives, endorsements of candidates and measures, and voter registration related to the Democratic Party. This body of volunteers has a substantial amount of weight, as it relates to voter reach and message within the party. More importantly, two local candidates want your vote!
