Piedmont Death Notices

Some of the people with ties to Piedmont who passed away recently.

Frank J. Mahoney was a long-time parishioner at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Piedmont. After retirement from a long career as a CPA with the accounting firm of Arthur Young in San Francisco, he was an active community volunteer who supervised tax aide programs for the Oakland Public Library. He died Sept. 25 at the age of 91.

Donald E. Morris, a 1944 graduate of Piedmont High School, died peacefully at his Piedmont home on Oct. 3. He worked as a real estate appraiser in the Bay Area for 25 years and was an enthusiastic sailor and carpenter who once made his own small boat. A Funeral Mass will be announced.

H. Corwin Johnson, 93, died Sept. 14 i Los Gatos. In his youth, he played bagpipes in the Piedmont High School Band and marched in the inaugural parade opening the original Bay Bridge. He later helped bring the bagpipe tradition back to PHS. He was president and CEO of Linney Company before his retirement in 1985. A memorial service will be held Oct. 13 in Los Gatos.
