Piedmont-Oakland Death Notices

A list of some of the people with ties to Piedmont and Oakland who passed away recently

Arthur Carlson Sr.: A resident of Piedmont for 47 years, Carlson was 102 years old when he died on June 5. He was a U.C. Berkeley graduate who played on the Cal football team in the 1930s. Carlson was also a World War II veteran and a member of the Naval Reserve. He worked at Standard Oil later in his career.

Jennie Hender: A life-long resident of Oakland, Hender was 101 years old when she passed away on May 7. She was an active AARP members and loved to travel and sew.

Grover Peterson: A graduate of Piedmont High, Peterson obtained a degree from U. C. Berkeley in 1940. He was a World War II veteran who worked for U.S. Steel in Pittsburg. He volunteered at the Clayton library until he was 90. Peterson passed away last month at the age of 95.

Richard James: A long-time resident of Oakland, James was a graduate of Skyline High School. He was a church youth leader and a Sunday school teacher for 37 years. He also taught at Lincoln Middle School in Alameda. James passed away on June 12 at the age of 55.

Raymond W. Choy: A native of Oakland, Choy lived in several Bay Area cities during his lifetime. He served in the military during the Korean War and worked for the East Bay Municipal Utility District for more than 35 years. Choy passed away at his home in San Lorenzo on May 31 at the age of 79. A memorial will be held on July 6 at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland.

Domingo V. Delgadillo: A resident of Oakland and Antioch, Delgadillo was born in Mexico and moved to the East Bay in 1963. He worked for General Motors for 28 years and loved attending Oakland A's baseball games. Delgadillo passed away on June 26 at the age of 84.
