New Building Next to Marketplace

What would you like to see at the new Park Vista Square?

This is the corner building of three buildings at 1700 Park St at the corner of Buena Vista Ave and right next to the Marketplace. This building is brand new and sits on what used to be a car dealership.

The developer, Bill Phua, envisions some type of sit-down restaurant for this building, but he wants to ask the community exactly what type of restaurant you would like it to be. It could be one large restaurant or divided into two.

There are also two other buildings so feel free to suggest anything you'd like to see there as well.

Alameda Patch has partnered with Spotmojo to collect your suggestions. The suggestions submitted on Spotmojo will go directly to the developer and potential businesses which they'll use to try to make it happen. Please make as many suggestions as you'd like.

Spotmojo is a website where you can suggest the businesses you want where you live, work, or play. The suggestions are provided to new businesses so they can find their ideal location. This gives you a voice in the businesses that open in your neighborhood and it helps local businesses succeed.

I am in total agreement with your suggestions. A place where we can get a fresh salad and other items, like Fresh Choice would be great.

I'd like to see a quality fish and seafood restaurant. Something like the Fish Market. The demographics for Alameda are not high enough to bring in high level clothing stores or food service operations, but something in the middle ground would be fine.

I think a small piano bar/cabaret would be great.

Everyone in our family of four votes for a salad Bar restaurant, "like" Fresh Choice, and locally owned/operated would be the best. Understanding the challenges of running a successful restaurant and following the "customer is always right/keeping everyone happy" rule, all I have to say is "good luck" to whatever ends up there; even if you give the consumer "value", there are no guarantees for success in this town!

I don't think "chain restaurants" is a good match for Alameda. I love the idea of "locally owned". I think definitely a restaurant. It will bring revenue from off the island as well. Vegetarian or Ethiopian restaurant would be nice.
