And an Arrest on a Warrant Makes Eight ...

"He's not a quitter," a police officer quipped this week when an Oakland man was arrested in Piedmont for the eighth time.

A man described as "well known" to Piedmont police was arrested on a petty theft warrant early Tuesday morning — his eighth arrest here since 2002, police said.

Piedmont Detective George Phifer said previous local arrests of Scott M. Wilson, 45, have been on suspicion of stealing loose change from unlocked parked cars.

"He doesn't seem to break into locked vehicles," Phifer said.

Wilson was arrested about 1 a.m. on Nov. 27 after a police officer spotted and then questioned a man who appeared to be checking doors on parked vehicles in the 200 block of Palm Avenue, Phifer said. A records check showed the man, Wilson, had an outstanding warrant from an outide police agency, Phifer said.

Wilson was booked into the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland.
