Burned Body Discovered in Redwood Regional Park

Officials are still investigating the incident. The park will be open today.

A burned body was found at the entrance of Redwood Regional Park in Oakland on Saturday night, a sergeant for the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department said.
 
Units from the Oakland Fire and Police departments responded to a report of a body on fire at the Skyline Boulevard entrance of Redwood Regional Park around 10:30 p.m., Sgt. Dave Hall said.
 
Officers from the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department also responded, he said. The person was declared deceased at the scene, Hall said. Officers determined that the crime was in the East Bay Regional Park District's jurisdiction and park detectives are investigating the case, he said.
 
The Alameda County coroner's bureau is also working to identify the body, Hall said. No arrests were made and no suspect information was available, he said.

The Skyline Boulevard entrance to Redwood Regional Park will be open to the public today as officers continue to investigate the incident, Hall said.
