Last year on St. Patrick’s Day the California Highway Patrol made more than 300 arrests statewide for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and the agency is urging Californians to make safe driving plans this year.
It could be a matter of life or death.
CHP records indicate that at least three people were killed in California in alcohol-involved collisions that day last year.
So expect CHP officers to be on patrol all weekend.
Meanwhile, on March 16th and 17th, 2013, CHP officers in the area will serve arrest warrants for local drivers who have been arrested for (DUI) but have failed to follow through with their court responsibilities.
If you have a warrant and don’t want the CHP knocking at your door, you can turn yourself in to any CHP office or the local police or sheriff department.
"It does not take 'good luck' to drive safely, it takes good decision making," said Castro Valley Area Commander, Lieutenant Christopher Sherry. "Please do not drink and drive. Arrange for a safe ride home. Watch out for pedestrians."
