Bay City News—A minor-injury accident briefly blocked part of a bore of the Caldecott Tunnel in Oakland Tuesday night, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The three-vehicle crash was reported at 8:56 p.m. on eastbound state Highway 24 just west of the entrance to the southernmost of the three bores of the tunnel, CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said. One person was transported to Alta Bates Summit Medical Center because of a complaint of pain from the crash, Van Eckhardt said.
The crash blocked the left lane of the two-lane entrance to the tunnel for more than 30 minutes, but crews cleared the scene and the lane was reopened shortly after 9:30 p.m.
