Oakland Police Ask Public's Help in Somerset Road Armed Robbery

Police are looking for two men responsible for a robbery just outside Piedmont's borders Wednesday night.

Oakland police are asking for the public's help in identifying two men responsible for an armed robbery in the 300 block of Somerset Road about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22.

The robbery took place about two blocks outside Piedmont's southeast boundary.

The suspects are described as a thin white teenage boy, about 16 or 17 years old and about 5'6" tall, and his companion, an Asian man about 19 years old, about 5'9" tall with a thin build, wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans.

The suspects were driving a maroon SUV or minivan, police said.

Oakland Police Department spokesperson Officer Johnna Watson said police aren't releasing further details about the robbery at this time.

Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, has surveillance video from the area or has other information is asked to call OPD at (510) 777-3333 or the OPD Robbery Section at (510) 238-3326 with any information.
