Officials Say Woman Fatally Struck by Coca-Cola Truck on I-880 was From North Carolina

Investigators are still trying to determine why Aquella Hall was walking on the highway.

A woman struck and killed by a Coca-Cola truck while walking on Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland early Tuesday morning was identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau today as 20-year-old Aquella Hall.
 
Hall was pronounced dead after she was found lying on the highway at about 4:20 a.m. near the 98th Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol. The coroner's bureau said she was a resident of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, but according to her Facebook profile, she was originally from Oakland and had recently been living in Fairfield.

The big-rig that hit Hall stopped on the right shoulder and all northbound lanes of the highway were closed while the CHP investigated the collision. The CHP is investigating why Hall was on the highway.

Any witnesses who may have seen something unusual on the 98th Avenue overpass or on I-880 near the 98th Avenue exit are asked to call the CHP's Oakland office at (510) 450-3821 or a non-emergency public access line at (800) 835-5247.
